Our collective safety and livelihood depend on creating and maintaining community defense networks in every neighborhood, across the nation. We know that true liberation is impossible under systems of oppression. That's why our movements must be built on the foundations of mutual aid, revolutionary unions, community assemblies, anarcho-communist collectives, and voluntary association/free membership farms.
The Peoples Defense: Direct Action
-
Members to be trained in de-escalation, protective accompaniment (physically accompanying threatened individuals), interpositioning (placing themselves between potential victims and aggressors), and monitoring state violence. This aims to deter or reduce harm.
-
Organized patrols monitor community spaces to identify suspicious activity (e.g., plainclothes government agents, informants), and provide an early warning system for residents.
-
Work to identify and organize safe houses or community spaces where individuals facing immediate threat (e.g., activists, dissidents, vulnerable populations targeted by the regime) can find refuge and support.
-
Interconnect to mutual aid efforts, ensuring the community can collectively grow, acquire, store, and distribute necessities independent of state control (This includes community gardens, food banks, skill-sharing for repairs, and alternative healthcare networks).
-
Organize for disaster preparedness and response (natural disasters, infrastructure collapse, or targeted attacks), provide first aid, search and rescue, communication, and logistical support when official channels are unreliable or hostile.
-
Promote the sharing of tools, vehicles, and specialized knowledge among community members, creating a resilient local economy independent of the state.
-
Establish independent communication channels (e.g., mesh networks, secure messaging, community radio, clandestine publishing) to share accurate information, expose regime lies, and disseminate news of resistance.
-
Discreetly observe and document instances of state repression, human rights abuses, and corrupt practices, gathering intelligence to be used for strategic resistance and eventual accountability.
-
Spread stories of resistance, resilience, and solidarity to combat fear and apathy, and to encourage hope and unity within the oppressed population.
-
Coordinate widespread refusal of cooperation with the regime, including labor strikes, consumer boycotts, tax resistance, and civil disobedience, to undermine its economic and social control.
-
Organize and safely manage public protests, demonstrations, and other forms of collective public action to demonstrate popular opposition and pressure the regime.
-
Develop alternative, self-governed structures (community assemblies) that begin to meet needs and govern local affairs outside of and in defiance of the tyrannical state. This demonstrates the viability of an alternative system.
-
Meticulously document abuses by the regime for future legal action, truth commissions, or international pressure campaigns.
-
Provide or coordinate legal assistance for political prisoners, victims of state violence, and those facing charges.
-
Organize networks to protect witnesses and whistleblowers who expose regime crimes.
-
Actively promote connection and solidarity among residents to counter the regime's attempts to divide and isolate the population.
-
Host discussions and workshops to deepen understanding of the nature of the tyrannical government, the principles of anarcho-communism, and the strategies for collective liberation.
-
Connect with similar defense networks in other communities, regions, and even internationally, to share strategies, and resources.
